Chief of the Clan

Chief John MacNeacail
of MacNeacail and Scorrybreac

John MacNeacail was born on March 20, 1950 in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia and educated at Scotch College, Launceston and Eisenhower High School, California, USA. John is a company director and investor with interests in real estate agencies and property in Northern New South Wales and Queensland.

He resides in Ballina, New South Wales with his wife, Jenni. The couple have two sons; Luke, the Clan Tanist born in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory in 1979, and Adam, born in Pambula, New South Wales in 1983. John became Chief of Clan MacNicol on the death of his father, Iain, in October 2003.

Isle of Skye traditions strongly suggest there are twenty-eight MacNeacail Chiefs buried on St. Columba's Island near Skeabost. Assuming that the last or 28th Chief to be buried there was Donald Nicolson, who died about 1825 and the last chief to die on the Isle of Skye, John is considered the 34th Chief.
